Burleson Park – University Park, Texas
Burleson Park, located at 3000 University Boulevard, is named in honor of James B. Burleson, who served University Park as Mayor Pro Tempore from 1946 to 1947 and as Commissioner from 1946 to 1948. Mayor H. E. Yarbrough signed the ordinance and dedicated the park on September 5, 1947.

Burleson Park has many features, including a clay infield baseball/softball diamond complete with a backstop and bleachers. On the east end of the park is a soccer practice field. Double tennis courts, located on the northwest corner of the park, are lighted for evening play. Both courts are equipped with fiberglass practice backboards. A basketball court, ideal for pre-teen play, is located just to the east of the tennis courts. A playground designed for children 12-and-under is footsteps away from the tennis and basketball court sites.
Burleson Park is a Great park with playground equipment and a soft top for early morning workouts or daytime play with the family. Awesome field open area for running, basketball, and tennis courts. Nice clean Place. Plenty of picnic tables. Awesome park and very well kept. Very pleasant small park, especially for toddlers and young children. A great park with plenty of open space, a basketball court, and two tennis courts. The playground has a squishy, rubber surface that helps soften a fall. There are a few trees around the playground that provide a good amount of shade during the hotter summer days.

Plenty of free “2-hour” parking surrounds this park on the northeast edge of the SMU campus. Tennis courts (2) and playground equipment are well maintained. The walking path surrounds plenty of open space. There are also 2 basketball goals in a semi-shaded area. Lots of young families and pets are seen here on the weekends. Bonus is the neatly hidden port-a-john on the south side of the park along University Blvd.
