Life Safety Park – Coppell, Texas
Life Safety Park has a rooted mission in benefiting the citizens of the City of Coppell, by bridging life safety topics and public education efforts. Opened in January of 2017, the facility provides life safety education to children and adult visitors throughout the area and offers meeting spaces for community organizations. Lessons and programs offered within Life Safety Park provide a foundation for a lifetime of living safely.
With a rapidly growing community and the ongoing planned development of Old Coppell, the Coppell Fire Department enlisted BRW Architects to design a new center for community safety and education. The City of Coppell Life Safety Park provides education to school children, families, and the general public regarding overall safety, fire procedures, severe weather, and pedestrian caution. The facility covers a spectrum of public education needs while going further to provide neighborhood amenities that enhance the adjacent Main Street development.
The Life Safety Park’s proximity to the farmer’s market and Main Street development obliges a design that is attentive to the scale and aesthetic of historical Texas architecture. The Safety facility was established to protect and serve the community by incorporating an Emergency Operations Center to operate in times of need. The site is centrally located, adjacent to utilities, and features fortified construction and generator power to ensure a command center capable of maintaining operations through unforeseen events.
Each Summer over the months of June and July, Life Safety Park typically offers free safety education classes for children in Pre-K through middle school. Class topics vary by age level, but all classes include engaging educational activities and conversations with safety professionals. Be sure to register in advance to reserve your spots.
The Coppell Life Safety Park will provide education to school children, families, and the general public regarding overall life safety programs such as fire procedures, severe weather response, and pedestrian caution. The facility will support not only a broad spectrum of public educational needs, but also provide community features including a park, museum, party room, and public classrooms that will enhance the adjacent Main Street development. Safety Town’s proximity to the farmer’s market and Main Street development will require a design that is attentive to the scale and aesthetic of historical Texas architecture.
The Coppell Life Safety Park concept will also support all five strategies listed within the Coppell 2030 Vision Plan (Sense of Community, Special Place to Live, Community Wellness and Enrichment, Business Prosperity, and Sustainable City Government). In addition, the Safety facility will protect and serve the community by incorporating an Emergency Operations Center. The operations center is ideally located in the center of Coppell, adjacent to utilities, and will incorporate fortified construction and generator power to ensure operations are maintained throughout unforeseen events.
