The Rose Gardens of Farmers Branch – Farmers Branch, Texas
Located opposite the Farmers Branch lane, this Rose Garden was a gift to the city of Dallas in honor of Ruthan Rose, a rose enthusiast and past president and member of the Brookhaven Garden Club and the Dallas Rose Society. Also known as the Ruthan Rogers Rose Garden, it was set up in a historical setting and was designed by Pam Smith, Dallas’ Park Landscape Manager.
This antique garden with over 200 varieties of roses functions with the mission to educate people about the selection and care for roses and insists on no pesticide or fertilizer usage. There are many tours as well as educational seminars organized during the blooming of roses.
The Rose Gardens of Farmers Branch are a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The garden is located on 27 acres of land at 2610 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. There are more than 200 different varieties of roses to choose from. Guests can walk through the garden along brick pathways and enjoy a picnic in the shade of a tree.
In the Historical Park, visitors can view the 1885 Queen Anne Victorian Cottage, which is home to the Ruthan Rogers Rose Garden. The garden was dedicated in 2007 and was the gift of Ruthan Rogers, an avid rose enthusiast. During the summer, the Market also offers live music and the Twilight Farmers Market, a seasonal event for local farmers and their produce.
This beautiful neighborhood is a 15-minute drive from the Dallas city center and has plenty of green space. Visitors can explore the Trinity River on the Campion Trails, a walking trail that provides both city and natural views. The flowers in the park bloom all year round, making it a great place to take a break from your busy schedule. The community’s parks and green spaces are also an excellent place for a picnic or a family day out. The historical park is another popular place to spend an afternoon.
While it is primarily a rose garden, there is also a bird sanctuary and a butterfly garden to make things even more magical. You can start your garden walk anywhere, though the website recommends starting at Gussie Field Watterworth Park. The garden has 500 different types of roses including hybrids and older breeds of roses.
The Rose Garden is open every day of the week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can also find the local rosarian at the garden in case you have questions about landscaping for growing roses of your own.
