The park features over 40 picnic tables for families, over 30 benches with great sitting areas, and over 10 grills if you want a BBQ evening.

The land for this park was earmarked after a public hearing concerning the use of land located in the flood plain of Bear Creek in 1988. It was deeded to the city in August 1989. It was finished and dedicated on March 25, 1991, with the help of grant money.

The abundance of trees provides plenty of shade for both playgrounds, keeping the equipment cool to the touch. A large pavilion, multiple picnic tables, and grills make this a great park for a family get-together or cookout. There are no restrooms, though there are two portable toilets near the playgrounds. There is also a dog park for those who want to take their pet for a walk. The trail connects to the Preserve at McCormick Park to the west.
