Whittier Heights is named for the 19th Century New England poet John Greenleaf Whittier, known for his love of nature and humankind. Whittier Heights boasts majestic topography, stunning views of natural beauty, and neighborhood-defining architectural landmarks.
Two of these include our 36-foot-tall Whittier Heights spire, located along Providence Road, and the most recognized Whittier Heights landmark; a circa 1760 restored New World Dutch Barn located adjacent to one of our tranquil stocked ponds. In fact, a bit of trivia, the Barn is reported to be the oldest structure now located in Tarrant County.
Our outdoor activity-friendly neighborhood is adjacent to Colleyville’s 27 acres of McPherson Park. This premier park features a playground, picnic and restroom facilities, wind sculptures, basketball and sand volleyball courts, open field play areas, a hike, and bike trail, and renovated Rock house.
In addition, seasonally, the park’s Splashpad, an eco-friendly, touch-button splash area for children is available. The park occupies land that formerly housed one of the major dairy farms in Colleyville and showcases the history of its park amenities. A renovated dairy barn features photos and replicas of actual milking operations.
Many Whittier Heights homesites afford extraordinary vistas of the development’s large private nature preserves that include riverine forests, lakes, and large rock outcroppings. Additionally, over 5,000 trees are being planted down the grand entry drive, along the quiet residential streets, in homeowners’ yards, and around lakes.
The acclaimed Keller ISD serves Whittier Heights. Liberty Elementary, within walking distance of the development, opened in the fall of 2005.
