Legal Draft Beer Company was Arlington’s first production brewery at its July 2016 opening. The brewery, which was founded by Curt Taylor and Greg McCarthy, is located in the city’s downtown district near AT&T Stadium and is known for its clever year-round beer styles, including favorites like its Presumed Innocent IPA, Free, and Clear Gluten-Free Helles Lager, Accused Amber Lager, Chief Justice Stout, and Hung Jury Hefeweizen. Guests can enjoy drafts, flights, and tastings Thursdays through Sundays at the brewery’s family-friendly taproom, which offers a stock of games for visitors to play while they enjoy beers. Tours are offered on Saturday afternoons, overviewing the company’s brewing production methods.
Legal Draft Beer Company started because the great state of Texas simply doesn’t have enough great craft beer. And they are there to help. Their beers are brewed with care and attention to detail by their Brewmaster with the finest ingredients available and are meant to stand up with the best beers in the state, the nation, and the world. About 15 years ago, Greg (the lawyer) and Curt (the logistics guy) were hanging out with friends, enjoying a cold beer and discussing family, business, and life its self. With very little introduction, Curt announced that the assembled group of friends should open a brewpub in their hometown, to serve their friends and neighbors along with the many tourists who visit the area. Everyone agreed, then finished their beers and returned to making a living and raising a family.
In early 2015, Curt and Greg and their friends were again enjoying a cold beverage together, when Greg let everyone know that he had decided to open a craft brewery in Arlington so that their hometown could take part in the craft beer revolution participate in the revitalization of downtown Arlington. Curt, of course, simply couldn’t resist. Thanks to a recovering attorney and a retired logistics guy, here they are.
The brewery itself, with the slogan “You’ve been served,” is filled with lawyer-themed decor with even gavels for tap handles in the impressive 2,500 square foot space. Adjacent to the taproom is an open-air, shaded beer garden that welcomes friends, family, neighbors, and tourists to the lively and welcoming atmosphere that Legal Draft Beer Company offers.
