With a variety of rooms for rent at a flexible cost, it’s sure to make your next event historic. The theater in the historic Collin County Courthouse seats 427 for live entertainment including off-Broadway, comedy, theater, and concerts. Tickets are available online or by phone at the Emerson Ticket Office.
MPAC is in the center of the historic district with a variety of restaurants and boutique shops that make it the perfect destination that is unique by nature! Our Mission The McKinney Performing Arts Center is dedicated to providing the community with a unique and professional venue in which cultural, artistic, and educational opportunities are nurtured in a supportive environment.
The 2006 Restoration
Community leaders and volunteers invested countless hours in research and planning for the restoration of this historic facility. The McKinney Community Development Corporation and the City of McKinney moved forward and reviewed a compilation of community forums and planning sessions to evaluate the building’s use and potential programming. In October 2003, a proposal was approved to re-craft the Courthouse as a cultural center for the citizens of McKinney and Collin County.
After extensive planning, diligent attention to detail, and respect for historic integrity, the City of McKinney worked hand-in-hand with the Texas Historical Commission to preserve the original beauty of the Historic Collin County Courthouse. MPAC distinguishes McKinney as a regional leader in supporting the arts and cultivating a unique cultural community and generating economic development.
The project was funded by the City of McKinney, McKinney Community Development Corporation, and Collin County. The project meets Texas Historical Commission guidelines for rehabilitation.
