Founded in 2003, Westlake Academy is an open-enrollment college preparatory charter school located in Westlake, Texas. Primarily funded by the Texas Education Agency, there is no tuition associated with attending the school.
We are one of the very few schools in the United States offering the internationally recognized college preparatory continuum of all three International Baccalaureate programs within a single campus.
Westlake Academy Athletics
At Westlake Academy, we take great pride in the achievements of our student-athletes. It is our belief that athletics complement academics by providing additional valuable learning experiences that prepare our students for success in society.
Participation in interscholastic sports offers an opportunity for students to enjoy the pursuit of excellence and test themselves against their achievements as well as those of their peers. Through competition, students learn that rules, when consistently applied, create order and discipline.
The flow of student energy into a more intensified arena enriches the classroom experience and instills moral, spiritual, and ethical patterns of conduct that are carried throughout life.

About the Primary Years Programme at Westlake Academy
The Primary Years Programme (PYP), a curriculum framework for children in kindergarten through grade 5 at Westlake Academy, focuses on inquiry-based learning. By emphasizing knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and the fostering and development of universal human values, the PYP is a powerful means of going beyond subject domains, asking students to use their knowledge and skills to solve real-life problems.
In doing so, students become responsible for their learning and must work collaboratively with peers and build on each member’s strengths.
About the Middle Years Programme at Westlake Academy
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is for students in grades 6 through 10 and emphasizes intellectual challenge. It encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life.
Diploma Programme (DP)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a challenging two-year curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities. . The DP is an inquiry-based liberal arts curriculum that incorporates the best educational practices from around the world. These practices focus on critical thinking and problem-solving.
